Time Warner's Digital Video Recorder
I have been thinking about upgrading my cable but I am trying to decide if it's worth the effort.Does anyone have it?
What do you like or dislike about it?
Is it easy to use?
Did you swap out the box or have TW do it?
If you did it, was it really as easy as TW says it is?
Would you recommend it?
Do you watch more or less TV?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Time Warner's Digital Video Recorder
Does anyone have it? Yes we have it.What do you like or dislike about it? What I like about it you can watch and tape something at the same time.
Is it easy to use? Very easy.
Did you swap out the box or have TW do it? We got a new box, Time Warner has to come to set it up.
If you did it, was it really as easy as TW says it is?
Would you recommend it? I would defintely recommend it, if the phone rings and your watching TV you can pause the TV
Do you watch more or less TV? Its about the same but we tape alot more shows now.

Re: Time Warner's Digital Video Recorder
Thanks!Did you switch from regular cable to digital cable at the same time you got DVR?
They told me on the phone that I just have to disconnect the current box bring it to one of their locations and trade it in for a new box and plug it back in. I tend not to believe them but if I don't have to burn half a day waiting for them I don't really want to. I know they need to come in for the digital upgrade.

We got the digital cable first. Yes you do have to go and pick the box up yourself. This option turned us off and we had the guy come to the house (it cost $25 for a house call) They give you a 4 hour time frame and you get to pick when you want them to come to the house, they are very punctual.

If that was me... then I would be getting free cable.
I pay $130 a month now with Time Warner... AND I am on a discounted retention plan. (normally would pay $160)

How do you mean? 'Borowed cable' ?
We pay about $74. We only get HBO as far as premiums go & no Internet service.
Dh is SO upset. We just got the thing in July. We weren't planning on moving but the co-op we rent is being sold & I don't want to buy it.
He is usually quite frugal, but he may consider getting Tivo when we move!
I hear Cablevision is getting dvr next year, but it will be gradual in different areas & I don't know if we can wait that long!
Maybe we should just stay in our Time Warner neighborhood!
