Timed sessions on treadmills?

Since I belong to Lucille Robert's in RVC, I've noticed that you have to sign up to use the teadmill and there is a half an hour time limit. Does this concept exist in other gyms?

you don't have to sign up at mine, but at times they have signs posted that say please limit your time to 30 minutes.

When Danielle and I went to Powerhouse in Bellmore we signed up, but only after we watched some girl force another woman off one of the treadmills saying that she signed up for the one she was on. Danielle and I were the only other people on the treadmills...There were 6 others free, but this girl was determined to have that one treadmill...It was pretty amusing...After that time we would sign up.

Yeah isn't it crazy how some people feel about the treadmills?

this was the case at golds gym in northport...what I would do is go at the 10 or 15 min mark and look for a treadmill that was free and free the next 30 min...so then I could get 40-50 mins in

usually in the mornings it was no problem...

People get so strange when it comes to exercise...I was a trainer for 5 years and have seen some of the strangest behavior!

But as a side note, it's good to follow the 30 minute rule anyway. It prevents you from getting repetetive stress injuries (shin splints, knee pain etc on treadmill). Also, working on a different machine for another 30 min works a different set of muscles so it improves overall fitness. And it's not as boring!

Just my 2 cents...
