Timeline for FRIDAY Wedding?
What is your timeline - for a Friday wedding??Originally we were going to marry at the reception site...but now we're reconsidering and my FH is stressing about the times and (again!!!) how no one is going to make it to the church, etc.
As of now, our CH is set to start at 8...so I thought a 5:30 ceremony would be enough time since the church we're interested in is only 13 miles fromour reception site. I wouldn't mind moving everything up an hour but this is creating some strange looks on my FH's face!
So, what's your timeline? (Thanks!!)

Re: Timeline for FRIDAY Wedding?
I am also getting married on a Friday night and on Fourth of July weekend to boot! My schedule is as follows:Church (ceremony only) 3:00 pm
Cocktail hour: 7:30 pm
Reception starting at 8:30pm
I figure since its the 4th weekend some people may be off and be able to come to church. And I started cocktail late enough so that hopefully most can make it.
I look at it this way, you cannot please everyone. At first, I was a little upset that not many people will be at my church. My FH said to me. 'As long as you are there that is all that matters to me'
Good luck with your planning!

Re: Timeline for FRIDAY Wedding?
Our church is at 3:30 and our reception starts at 7:00. The church is about 30 minutes away and I want to stop somewhere to take pics and also take pics on site. Hopefully that is enough time.

Re: Timeline for FRIDAY Wedding?
I wouldn't start you CH any later than 8. If you start it at 9 then your wedding will run until 2a.m. and you'll run the risk of lossing a lot of guests before you even cut the cake.

Re: Timeline for FRIDAY Wedding?
Thanks. No, I wouldn't start it later than that. As it is now, our ceremony was at 7, CH at 8 and reception from 8-1.

We are getting married at 5 and the cocktail hour starts at 8. That hopefully will leave enough time in between for pictures.

Re: Timeline for FRIDAY Wedding?
Hi there, I have a Friday wedding too. You need to consider that your pictures will take you 1 hour no matter what. (that is what all the photograhers are telling us. So make sure you keep that in mind. ALso are you have a long ceremony ( 1 hour mass) or just the wedding ceremony ( only 1/2 hour) This all makes a difference. With an 8:30 Cocktail hour you should be ok.. Also think about light.. Do you pictures outside? if so, then you will want to move it up even earlier...GOOD LUCK, Everything works out in the end anyway.. MY Fiance says that the people who really matter will always be at the ceremony and the people that are not that important will come to the party...

What a smart man!!I told my fmil the same thing when she told us she wont attend the church and that most people dont go to the church b/c of the time gap inbetween that and the cocktail hour.

Re: Timeline for FRIDAY Wedding?
Church 3:30 (ceremony)CH 7:00
Reception 8-12
We could have done the 5:00 ceremony, but I want to spend time with bp at cocktail hour and then go down to the ch for a while to greet some guests so we dont have to do it during the actual reception

Re: Timeline for FRIDAY Wedding?
Hey! We are getting married the same day!! We are having our church at 3:00 in Floral Park and our CH starts at 7:00 at the Watermill. We haven't yet decided whether or not to have a full mass. That can really make a difference. Our photographer also suggested not doing a receiving line after the service (I personally would not want to do that, but it's an option). Crossing our fingers that traffic won't be too bad, but you can't worry about everything, right? Good luck with whatever you decide!!
