Timeline for Vendor Bookings

Hi Everyone,
I am very new to the whole wedding planning thing. I am getting married July 25, 2009 and I have my RH and Church. But I don't know how far in advance I should be booking my florist, photographer, limos, hotels etc... HELP??? I read in a few magazines that you should do all those things b/w 12-6 months before the wedding but that is such a big time frame!

It depends on a few things.

1) Is your vendor popular? If so, I would book early.

2) Is your wedding month popular as well?

3) depends on how far in advance you really want to get things done.

My wedding is December 6, 2008 and we were engaged November 13, 2007. I have booked the limo's and chapel , the reception hall, photographer, and makeup. I still have the florist and the hairstylist and that is about it. One of my BM called around and someone told her that we are calling wayyyy too early for hairstylist. I don't think so b/c I want to guarantee that my day will be open and I won't have to run around last minute looking for someone to book.

My wedding is September 2009 and I have all major vendors booked except limo which will be done shortly. If the vendors you choose are popular then book immediately. I would say that the 1st thing you should do is book your photog they book over a yr in advance. Then florist, etc.....

I would book the photographer and band/dj asap. I just booked my photographer for my 2010 wedding.

I booked all my vendors immediately. I wanted to get that done with as soon as possible.

I just have RH & Church booked...I just started calling vendors and have appts for the upcoming weeks..

I booked early and I am glad I did. I felt that I had first choice with everyone!

Our wedding is in October 08 and I had all of my major vendors booked by December of 07.
Get a head start on Hair & Make Up. Those vendors (especially if they are really good) book up fast.

It really depends on the vendor. Vendor's that only do one wedding/day will definately book faster. We were unable to get the band we wanted for our 6/09 wedding last october, 2008. We almost lost our RH around the same time. I had all our vendors booked by the beginning of this year.
