Timing of day

Help! I'm so confused. We are ready to go with our invitations but my FH and I cannot agree on what time to do our ceremony. We are getting married at church but its not a full mass. Right now we have it set up at 3:30 and cocktail is at 6:30. My FH is concerned that it's too much time in between and those guests from out of town will get bored waiting around at hotels etc. I am just concerned because I don't want to feel rushed with pics. etc. We are just doing pics at our RH. Our church and RH all only about 20 min apart. He wants to start church at 4. Thoughts???

Re: Timing of day

I orginally had my church time for 4 but I wanted more time for pics and not feel rushed. I changed my church time to 3:30. I think you should leave it @ 3:30!

Do what works for YOU! Whenever I am a guest at weddings, I always find something to do for a few a hours. It's expected most of the time!

Timing of day

My church is at 1pm (Sunday) and reception at 6pm. My venue is 45 mins away from church. In the end I wanted awesome pictures and my photographer said try and get as much time as possible- so I did! It's your day, do what you feel is right.

Just a suggestion, what about asking your venue if they can do a hospitality hour? It might help.

Timing of day

Our church ceremony is at 2 and cocktail hour starts at 6. The photographer told us that it would be best to leave more time for pictures than not enough. Especially since we want to stop at the beach before RH to take beach pictures. The RH is about 30 minutes from church. I would say you should leave the time and don't make it later

Timing of day

I have almost exactly the same time frame as you. I decided not to care if my guests are bored. It is my wedding day, and if thats the worst thing they walk away saying than I am ok with it. It is your day and if you dont want to miss a minute of the day you or your loved ones are paying for, do what fits your schedule!!

Timing of day

My ceremony is at 3:00 and CH begins at 7:00. I wanted to give us plenty of time to have a receiving line, take pictures at the church, then have time to take pictures at both our venue and photo location. I want to be able to eat some CH food and then mingle!

Timing of day

Our CH is 7:30 and our church is at 2:00. FH just asked me about the church time the other day and when I told him 2 he said that was late. Now I'm super confused because I was thinking about moving it to 3 for anyone who has to work that day (even though it the day after 4th of July). Harumph.

Timing of day

We have our ceremony set up for 3:15 and CH for us starts at 6:30. Sounds like a pretty common spread. I'd stick with it the way you have it!
