timing of the ceremony/recpetion question

Hi everyone, so I have narrowed my choices down to either Fox hollow , Crest Hollow, or Westbury manor. Both fox hollow and westbury manor dont offer ceremony options when booking for a sat night. And the cocktail hour would start at 7pm. What time should I set my cremony for then if I am not having it on site? My ceremony would be held in elmhurst queens, which would take about 40 minutes to get to. I dont want to take pictures before our cremony cause I want my fiance to see me before I walk down the aisle.

Would it be rude and unheard of to hold the ceremony at like 4:30 and end at 5pm. Get to the reception cite by 6 and take pictures for an hour. But my guests will have a downtime of about an hour. Am I making any sense?

Re: timing of the ceremony/recpetion question

I think that's normal actually. I've been to a few weddings that have actually started earlier (~3:30) with a cocktail hour starting at 7. Take into consideration if you'd like to have a recieving line after the ceremony because that can take a while and if you want to attend your cocktail hour. People will figure out what to do in between (maybe a relative or friend can have people back to their house as a pit stop).
