At what point did you guys start looking for wedding bands? How long does it take to have something custom-made, anybody know??

it took me approx. 2 weeks to have my band done.. it depends on where you go.. I'm getting married in August and I got mine in February.. FH is picking his up tonight..

DH's wedding band was made to order and it took about 3 weeks.
FYI - I think the jewelry industry sort of shuts down in the summer for a few weeks. Just something to add into your schedule. When they come back, I am sure there are tons of backorders so it will add to your delivery time.

We ordered ours in December and had them in three weeks. Mine was custom made. I'm not getting married until July, but with all wedding planning I felt it was never too early to get things accomplished.

We ordered ours in Feb (took advantage of Valentines Day sales) and our wedding is in August. We already have mine, and FHs just came in- his was custom, made it in platinum instead of white gold. THe whole process took about three weeks after we found the rings.

I had mine custom made and its taking about 2 months. They make a wax mold of your ring first to make sure you like how it is going to look, then you pick the diamonds, then it gets put all together.

Since your profile indicates that you are getting married in October, I would start looking now. I just purchased our bands this weekend and the prices had gone up by a few hundred dollars since December. We were told that due to the economy and the threat of a war, the prices of gold and platinum are rising.

We ordered ours in February 2002 and our wedding was August 2002. It didn't take long for the order to get through but we had it on layaway for so long due to our finances. It also took a week for the custom engraving on our rings.

It took about 2 weeks to have mine custom made. I didn't go back to look at the diamonds, just trusted that he was getting the color/quality I asked for. - I got it in Jan. and I'm Oct. too. (I'm trying to have everything paid for my March)
