Tip for those ordering BM dresses
I used to work at a well know Bridal Salon and wanted to share a few tips:1. Almost everyone is allowed to discount dresses by 10% without even checking with a manager. So definitely ask for a discount - you'll most likely get it, even if you didn't buy your Bridal gown at the same store.
2. Most salesgirls try to convince you to order up a size or order based on your largest measurement because 'heaven forbid' the dress arrives and is too small. In my experience the opposite is true. More often than not, the dress arrives too big and more alterations are needed (which is what the store wants).
3. Stores tell you that you need to order 3-4 months in advance, but that is just so that they can add on rush charges. In most cases, these can be waived if you speak to a manager.
4. Pick up your BM dresses as soon as the come in and then bring them back for each fitting. The storage areas are usually a mess and nothing is more frusterating than having to wait an hour while a salesgirl tries to find your dress.
Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any other questions!

Re: Tip for those ordering BM dresses
sorry about this but not all of this is true in all cases. The dresses in reality take about 12-10 weeks to come in so after that then the rush fees begin and are charged by the manufacturer and not your store.
Some dress companies do run small so going with the biggest measurment is fine in some cases.
example bill levkoff ten fits me however is a bit tight in the bust area so then i would need the twelve for my bust and have the rest taken in.
Not all storage spaces are unkept. some places will not let you come back for alterations after you take the dress home. what if something happends to it someone has to be responsible for these things.
Please take all of this advise lightly that was given.

Re: Tip for those ordering BM dresses
Just curious - do you own a bridal store? Where are you getting your info?Perhaps each store has different policies, but I was a manager at a well known store here on LI and I a
m fairly certain that what I listed is accurate. My advice was just given to help people b/c I saw many cases where brides were taken advantage of needlessly.
Thanks for your input!
