Re: tip on cleaning your ring...
My mom gave me that tip also! I was originally using the windex when my sister noticed it had a bluish tint. I thought she was nuts until I looked really close. I brought it to the jeweler and he gave me the ring cleaner. So now I soak it in the jewelery cleaner and than rinse it with alcohol. Looks BEAUTIFUL!
You know what really annoys me though. I went to get my ring cleaned the other day and was shocked when the woman charged me $5. I know this is cheap and I am being frugal, but all they do is steam it for a second. No expense in that for them. Its ridiculous how they try and get you for everything!

Re: tip on cleaning your ring...
Hi, How long do you soak it in the rubbing alcohol and do you than clean it with a toothbrush after? Also, do you rinse it off with water before you put it back on your finger. Thanks!

Re: tip on cleaning your ring...
Is this for any type of metal? Does it matter if the ring is platinum or gold?

Re: tip on cleaning your ring...
I though everyone knew this tip I've been cleaning my diamond earrings & e-ring this way for years! What I do is I drop my ring in the alcohol and I 'lightly' swirl it around for about a minute. Then I let it set for about another 5. Then I take it out and with the drain CLOSED I rub it with a small toothbrush while under running cold water. All sparkly when done!

What type of alcohol? do you rub the diamond with a small toothbrush or just the band? I'm new to this.

Re: tip on cleaning your ring...
you use regular rubbing alcohol. i put alcohol in a container and leave my ring in for 5 min- he said I could leave it longer or even over night. then you take it and either brush with a toohbrush or a little bursh- i use the brush that came with my jewelery cleaner. I know this isnt anything new i just wasnt aware of it. using blue jewelry cleaner and windex actually made my ring more dull and filmy.. i didnt realize until i tried i on with clean diamonds. mine is so sparkly now!!!
