Tip Question

Tip Question

I'm getting all our money ready for final payments and such and I'm getting all our tip envelopes ready too (a little early but I just want to make sure we have enough $$). I have everything figured out tip wise except for the photographer (FI and I are disagreeing on the amount).

What is everyone tipping there photographer? Are you giving a flat amount or a percentage of what you are paying? We are paying approx. $4500.

I haven't thought about tips yet, but I think that I read online that it is not expected that you tip the photographer esp if the photographer is the owner of the business (which is true in my case). Can that be true? That'd be great if it were, but I don't want to stiff someone who I know will do a great job (Lia - Imagine Studios). I'll have to keep researching. Have you tried looking on TheKnot?

yes, that's true.. generally you do not tip the photographer if he is the owner.. you can if you wish.. but tech. you're not supposed to.. you should tip the asst., if any..

Thanks for the responses.....yes they are the owners so I know I don't 'technically' need to tip them, but I feel bad not tipping. Oh well I have a month to mull it over.
