Definitely tip the band. Unfortunately, i'm not having one so I don't know how much. I guess if I were having a band I would tip 100 per band member.

I spoke to the band leader about this, b/c I had no idea how much they were supposed to get. I didn't want to give too much because we are feeding them, but I didnt want to give them too little b/c they are a 10 piece band.

She told me that since we are feeding them to not give more than $150-200 for the whole band. They don't require you to feed them or tip them, so anything you give is being generous.

Most bands , if im correct are 8 members or better , mine for instance is 9, if i tipped them 100 pp that would be 900 more ,, Im sorry I dont agree with that . Thats insane , espccially for what the bands go for. I actually called my band & asked them , of course they said no, I will but not 100 pp..

I had a friend who played in bands a lot-- he told me he thought $50-$75 for each member was fair. So we will do that. When do you give them the tip-- after? I'm so afraid that if I have to give it to them while they still have playing to do that they are going to not have any energy or not care on purpose if they don't like my tip!!

You can give it to them at the end or have someone give it to them like the best man.
Even $50-75 is alot per band member, are you feeding them too?

I agree 100% We're having a band as well with 7 members in it and no way are we giving them $100 pp., I'm thinking $25 or so per person in addition to them eating at the wedding. My band also works for themselves so they are pocketing all the money that we are paying them to play at our wedding too.

That is the age-old question on these boards: tips. They shouldn't be something you 'need' to do, you should 'want' to tip them bc they've done such a great job. Some brides tip regardless and others tip only if they've exceeded what was expected of them. The amount also varies and should be based on what's comfortable for you.

Personally, yes we tipped our DJ/MC team bc we were VERY happy with their service. Not only the day-of but everything leading up to the actual day counts as well.

yes rosie....i think we tipped 50-100 per person [dj and mc]
