We're finally getting our engagement photos done this Sunday! Hoping for no April showers...
We've put down a big deposit for the wedding photographer, who we'll meet for the first time at our engagement shoot. And we'll pay the remainder of our balance at the wedding- including a tip, of course. But is it conventional to tip the photographer after the engagement shoot? The prices are all rolled into one big sum for wedding and engagement shoot, so I'm not even sure what we'd tip after Sunday's session.

I was wondering this as well.. most engagement shoots separately at $300-500 so I guess tip based on that? But what if it's the owner of the company? IDK lol

We tipped ours $60 for a 2 hr shoot, and he was really appreciative of it, and not at all expecting it. In fact, we got our pics in 3 weeks rather than the 6 weeks he said it would take. He was also the owner. I think in cases where it involves a videographer/photographers, its always nice to be a little more generous with them. It gives them more of an incentive to really go out of their way for you...especially when it comes to editing and getting your pics! :)
I did ask a co-worker before I had my e-shoot done, and she said not to tip since he's the owner, and my mother agreed. So I guess many people think thats standard practice, and why our photog wasn't expecting a tip.

We tipped $60 ours was supposed to be an hour it was more like 3.5 hours and it was awesome we got a ton of shots.

We tipped our photographer after our shoot. It was suppose to be an hour shoot and he went above and beyond so we felt it was only fair to tip afterwards.
We tipped 50 or 60... We had such a great experience! It was so much fun and just a great time. Our e-shoot also came in the photo package... we got our pics in like... 2.5 weeks? I can't wait for the wedding day!

We waited until we got our pictures back and sent her a thank you card with one of the pictures inside and a $50 check.

Wondering the same- We are having an old friend from high school (not that close with her anymore), but she is starting a small photography company. She is charging us for the shoot, so do we have to tip her also?
