Re: Tipping??
Sorry about this one but i am a little biased-bridal attendant should be $50-$100, depends on how much she went out of her way for you, also if you get married on site it should be a little more... maitre'd should be $3-4 per guest, the rest i am not sure!

Re: Tipping??
When we signed our contract, the tip for the Matre D ($3-5/pp) and bridal attendant ($1/pp) were not included in the gratuity fee.
Now, I don't understand why the Bridal Attendant should get paid per person when she's really only there to searve/help you and DH. Anyone have a clue to this?

The bridal attendant shouldn't get paid per person-it's up to you what you want to give her..and the job depends on the place-depending on how big the bridal party is, if they want a lot of drinks-beer vs. mixed makes a big difference, bringing food to the suiteand to where they take pics.., bustling the bride's dress, cutting the wedding cake into the guest's pieces, if there is a ceremony she should help coordinate everything with the maitre'd and is responsible for packing up the unity candle, champagne glasses, cake cutter, etc.....but some places they don't do as much...i had someone complain about me b/c they wanted me to walk in front of her everywhere she went and hold the front of her dress up. so anyway, it's entirely up to you and what you feel. hope this helps!

so if the bridal attndant does all the '***** work' (sorry, not meant to offend anyone, but u know - all the running around and stuff), why does the maitre'd get paid so much more? $3-$5 a guest??? i find that so outrageous. i have about 200 guests for my wedding, that means i have to take out another $600-$1000 for the maitre'd?? it's mind boggling to me, costs just as much as a vendor! and at least i chose the vendor. what are your sentiments on this?
Check your contract is service charge or gratuity included? If so, then it's not neccessary to tip extra. Howver if you really like the service, then you can tip extra if you want. That's the way I see it.

I don't understand it either...why they don't just get a salary like everyone else-I hope i didn't frustrate you, a few people just asked what the bridal attendant does...as far as i know, the maitre'd coordinates the party with the kitchen, the dj, the photographer, and makes sure everything runs on schedule. i'm sorry you feel frustrated so many hidden charges everywhere we turn!

oh no, i appreciate your honesty and insight. i just hate how the wedding industry suck every penny out of you. i don't even make anywhere near $600 a day, why should i tip one person that much? i think it's the responsibility of the hall to make sure a wedding runs smoothy anyway, why tip them that much???
when my sister got married 2 years ago, she wasn't aware of this 'etiquette' and only tipped her maitre'd $100. we all dropped our jaws much later on when we found out it's AT LEAST $2 per guest.
shoot, for $600-$1000, i can spend a lil more and get a wedding day coordinator!
while i secretly love all this wedding planning, i hate the financial aspects of it. i am not whining about it, because i know 'that's just how it is'.. but gosh, we need to start a revolution or something, lol.
You start the revolution, by not doing it. One by one, we all tip the maitre-d $100.

Re: Tipping??
Is $25 a little much for hair & make up tip? I was going to give $15 each.

Re: Tipping??
I don't think so. Usually if she owns the business, then that would be enough.. It's really up to you.
