Tipping

Need help!!

Tipping is a mystery to me when it comes to vendors. Thinking about it makes my head spin. Luckily i have a little bit until i need to worry about this for my wedding but my engagement party is coming up and I dont know how much to tip the venue, DJ and MC.

I know it all depends on the price i was given but is there a rule of thumb percentage wise? Do I tip the DJ and MC separately, different amounts, same amount? Help me ladies! :)

I agree with the bride above. There's a forum that brought up tips in a convo but can't remember which one. When we hired our DOC that was my first question. Everyone has different people and ideas of tipping. They have a list of tipping musts and the average tips. As soon as she sends it to me I can forward it to you. I know the maiter D is a must at that's an average of $3-$5/pp. The bridal attendant (if the venue gives you one) - $100-$200. Limos, same if one way. A little bit more if it's roundtrip. Hair and make up - 20%. Delivery guys $20-$50 depending. Dj's and mc's, photographer/videographer, DOC are not mandatory, it's strictly your discretion. However meals are much more appreciated. We have a vendor table for that reason. I went to a party where the band literally stood and ate. Well actually stuffed their faces in like 5 mins. We didn't want that and vendor plates are half the cost. They can sit down and eat there's no reason for us to be grimy. But again it's our choice and most vendors will rsvp yes or no before the fact. At least they have the option. I'm 30 days away so I'm sitting here trying to figure it out too. Hope this helps.

thanks... and i totally agree with the vendor table... i think whats worst than the ppl that make them stand is the people that dont even feed them. Of course its up to each bride to make that decision but i feel like if i was in the business i would work harder after being able to sit down and eat rather then stand the whole night and starve

Yea. It was really uncomfortable to see that. I wanted to give them my seat. I didn't want that at my wedding lol.
