Tipping at Make-up Trial?

Tipping at Make-up Trial?

Has anyone ever answered this age old question? Do you tip at a trial?

It is all up to you but I did. My trail was free since I booked Denise from Angel Eyes on the spot but if not it would of been $25 so I gave her a $10 tip.

I think it depends on where the trial takes place. If it is in a salon, definitely tip because the makeup artist has to pay for the space. If it's at her home or your home, I'd still tip but not as much since they are pocketing the entire amount. My makeup trial was at her home and I gave her an extra $5.

Mine was free with JN but had to pay $25 if you got the airbrush which I did, I tipped her $10.

I booked her!!!

To be honest.. I am a little ashamed.
I was so angry at the cost of trials at the time and she had forgotten to mention how much her trial would cost PLUS the hair trial so I was very angry. I drove to her and told Jim (who came with me) that I refused to tip her. It's not like she came to me with her stuff or anything...

But then.

THat day was snow bound hell!!! I still made it out there and Jim had to stay cause we couldn't chance him leaving and making it back with my car (his was in the shop). Jim had all the cash. I would have tipped $20 for both but Jim didn't get that message. We were half way home when I realized he never tipped her.

I feel guilty.

PS: When you go.. ask her if the trial costs applies to the cost on the 'day of' please. I forgot to ask. And face it.. that's a lot of cash to fork out.. TWICE.

Thanks!

I will ask. I am leaving soon. I will write all about it when I get back. I guess you were happy with her since you booked her. Where are your pics from your trial?

Re: Tipping at Make-up Trial?

I had 3 trials $45, $50, & $50 (Hair). The two at the salon I tipped $10 each, the one where she came to my house I didn't tip at all, I figured she gets all the money for the work anyway.

Eek, Mom went with me and decided to pay for the trial. She didn't tip Jillian and I didn't know how to gracefully tell her I should. I really liked the trial, though, and will probably book her, so I guess I will make it up to her.

Forgot to tip JN. Felt like a heel.

Do I apologize? Send her a small gift? Make it up to her on my wedding day?

I need to use up the rest of the film on my camera and I'll post my photos.

Did she say whether the cost goes towards the wedding if booked?

Jim & I decided to tip her heavy at the wedding!
