Tipping banquet manager and maitre d'.....

Tipping banquet manager and maitre d'.....

The last tipping thread I read on here said you tip 10% of the total food/drink bill if you have a manager and a maitre d, but that's $900 for the manager alone, for a total of $1350.

Another source said it's one single tip, split between them.

Yet a third source said you don't tip the banquet manager if you have a maitre d, since the banquet manager makes a commission for booking your affair.

We have two copies of the finalization sheet for our venue. One of them includes the banquet manager on the list of people to tip. The other copy does not include him.

Can anyone make any kind of sane recommendation? Please???

We didn't tip our BM. He got a fat commission on booking our wedding.

We tipped our MD, bridal attendant, and captain the day of the wedding.

I don't think it's necessary to tip the BM.

there's an article on one of the posts that has exactly who you 'should' tip. i can't seem to find it but it is very helpful. try searching for the article on the posts.

this is what we did too.

Flowerfield actually told us what's recommended so we didnt have to do any guesswork

just ask your RH

You do NOT tip your BM. That would be like tipping the realtor who sells your home. S/he's making a fat commission on your party. They don't get a tip on top of that.

You tip your BM $2-5pp -- OR whatever you feel like. Our hall recommended $300-500 for our BM. We had a small-ish wedding for our particular venue. We tipped $350.

Oh yes this just sparked a memory! We flat out asked who to tip (we asked the overall manager of our place, not our BM) and they told us who should be included. The BM was not one of them.

I've always heard it was just the Maitre' D not the BM. I went to one venue where they told me the Bridal Attendant fee is $125 straight off the top.
