Tipping etiquette

So our wedding is coming up in six weeks and its that time to start thinking about who is getting what tips. Im having such a hard time thinking about this. My photogropher and videographer are both the owner of their business so do I still tip them even after paying them all that money for the packages? They each will have an assistant with them, so do I only tip the assistant? Also, I have a DJ and an MC, tips for both? Two photobooth attendents, hair stylist, makeup, florist etc. On top of all of these people that I have hired and now have to feed are they each getting a tip? Our maitre de is also supposed to be getting $3-#5 per person and we are expecting over 200 people at the wedding. It seems like Im going to be in debt thinking about all of the tips that may have to go around. Please let me know what you guys think!! I need helpp!

Do what you can! I would give your photographer and videographer tips even thought they owe the business. But thats just my opinion. I say $50 each and if they wow you than more. For hair and make-up I would go against how much it costs and how well you feel they did. Like if it was $100 20% would be $20. I'm sorry but I think 600 to 1,00 for the maitre de is crazy!!!!!I think a couple of hundred is good for them but maybe thats me being cheap??? Don't forget your bridal attendent.

Re: Tipping etiquette

I was just married this past weekend and understand your frustration regarding the tips, it is alot of money on top of all the money you have spent already.
However, I think any vendor that provides a good service for you on your day deserves a tip, even if they are the owner of the company.
The day of the wedding all of our vendors were so great, we were adding to their tip envelopes, and they deserved every cent of it!
I felt the maitre'd tip was the most outrageous at first, but he explained to us that it gets divided between all the back of house staff, like the chefs, waiters, etc.
