I know this has been brought up many times, but how much do you tip for a hair/make up trial? I'm going to the salon and it's not the owner who's doing it.
What do you suggest?

Re: Tipping for trials
I've heard suggestions to do 10% - 20% of the trial cost.
Hair $50 = $5 - $10 tip
Make-up $35 = $3.50 - $7 tip

I gave a $10 to each. 10% would have been less... but they spent a lot of time on me.

Re: Tipping for trials
This is going to sound terrible, but I didn't tip for either of my trials. Both girls are solo business owners, so I knew the cash for the trial was going straight to their pocket as opposed to a salon. I do plan to tip the day of the wedding though.
Am I a terrible person?

I gave $10 to both at my first trial. Hair and Makeup (even though I hated the makeup, I didn't want to be rude)

Do you have to tip the day of if someone is doing it privately and every cent is going to their pocket???

I didn't tip for my hair trial because she wouldn't accept one. And I tried! I think I tipped $10 for my makeup trial...

Re: Tipping for trials
I tipped $30 for my hair trial (gave her a little extra because I knew her) and $20 to the makeup artist.
