I just received a booklet from my photographer with a lot of usefull and general information. One of the 'Frequently Asked Questions' listed was about tipping. They said 5%. I think it's a matter of preference and what you can afford to do. Trust me, I LOVE my photographer, and if I had the means to tip her more, I would.

Another things, regarding tipping maitre 'ds, take the halls 'suggestions' with a big fat grain of salt. I know of someone who was the host of a party at my hall and when he gave the maitre 'd his tip at the end of the night, the maitre 'd asked if he was happy with the services, and gave the host the impression that the tip wasn't enough. It was NOT a wedding, and the party was for about 100 people. I was told the tip was $300.

Tipping can get out of hand.

My hall is already charging 18% gratuity for their staff. Girls, check your contract. That mean you are ALREADY paying for tip.

Hall told us it was to our discretion for the Maitre D'.

I am not tipping the photographer, florist, dress fitting, etc. They charge a fee... and a big one I may add.

It should not matter whether they did a great job or not. I am expecting them to do a great job.
