Tipping Gripe

Is anyone else a little bit put off when gratuity is included in the price that you are given. My thought is...if you do a good job, I will gladly tip you. To include the tip in the price almost implies that I may not provide good service to you, so I wan't to make sure that I get a tip anyway. Do you know what I mean?

Re: Tipping Gripe

I do understand your point. I think they include the gratuity to make things easier so that on the day of you do not have to come out of y our pocket.

Re: Tipping Gripe

Limo companies ALWAYS put the tip into their price. My hall had a 'service' charge but that is not the same as a tip, or so I was told. I agree that a tip is for a job above and beyond, not for just doing your job and driving me somewhere safely.

Re: Tipping Gripe

I'm put off when gratuity is included for Limo drivers and you are expected to grease their palms more at the end of the night. The catering hall doesn't bother me so much, because there is no way I'd be able to determine if every waiter and bartender at my hall did the job they were supposed to do. So let the hall tell me what to tip them and I will. It's up to us what the Maitre D gets though...

Re: Tipping Gripe

I agree it's a little unnerving.. but, I guess they just want to make sure that they're people get some sort of tip. I'm sure that there are a lot of cheap people out there who would stiff the workers when it comes to a tip (even if they did an excellent job)- and this is just their way of avoiding that.
For 1 day, as special as this, I'm just overlooking it.
