Tipping Hair/Make - up People

I had a disagreement with my mom the other day as to if we should tip the hair and make up person that is coming to my house the big day. They will be there between 6 and 7 AM on a Sunday morning.

My mom seems to think that the salon is not getting anything and that the person is going to get all of it, and therefore there is no need to tip. She also thinks that because it is not at a salon, I don't need to tip either. I disagree. I feel that the salon will be getting some of the money that we are paying and that since she will be at my house so early, they should get a tip.

What do you think? And what kind of tip do you think is appropriate?

Thanks! Samantha

WOW! I think you should just tip them for coming to your house so early. I wouldn't be able to have something done like my hair or makeup without tipping. That's just me. I believe that if they bring stuff from the store (ie, clips, spray, gel) then the money will go to the store. I would most definitely tip.

I see both sides as well, but the bottom line is they are doing a service and should be tipped. I'm planning on tipping both 20%, same as I would if I went to the salon.

I would tip too. My hair and makeup will also be done at my house at 6 AM, so I'm tipping for them just to be there on time.
