Tipping owners?

Tipping owners?

I know this topic has been hashed out many, many times, but I'm still unsure!

It's been said that vendors that own their own business don't need to be tipped (with the theory that they're pocketing all of the profits)

That being said, is everyone sticking to this?? I don't want to insult anyone by not tipping those vendors that do own their own company, but I don't want to go overboard either.

My hair stylist owns her own business, and I, as well as many other clients, always give her a tip, and she happily accepts.

Any advice?

I am not tipping owners but that doesn't mean you cannot give them a nice token of appreciation. Maybe a bottle of wine or box of Godiva after the wedding to say thank you with a reference letter.
If you feel a vendor has gone above and beyond for you then by all mean tip them.

We are tipping all our vendors and mostly all of the them are owners of their own companies. We feel that if they go above and beyond for us then they deserve it. I agree with Teri, I get my nails done by the owner of the store and I tip her too. So it is the same thing.
