Tipping Question

For any future or past brides, did you or would you tip the photographer's assistant? i have an article which suggest we should (around $25), but I'm starting to feel like we are tipping everyone and their cousin--this runs into some serious bucks!

Just curious to see what others did. Thanks!

Re: Tipping Question

I read that tipping the assistant is common, my DOC thought so also. We tipped ours $50.
I agree with you though, the tipping really does add up!!

I don't plan on tipping the photography or the assistant. I am not a cheap person, but this is their job, why should i tip them? I am paying enough

I tippied my photgroapher but not the assistant because to me he wasn't too competant... My photographer however was the best so she ended up getting $100 from me and a little note saying not to share it with her assistant because he was a BRAT!!!

Re: Tipping Question

I would say you really should tip the assistant half of what you give the photographer. But I think it should be whatever you want to give.

Try a certain percentage of your photo cost. like...make it 3% or something like that. so if you paid 3K for photos the tip would be $90 for the photographer, then I would probably give his assistant $30 (half of $90 might be too much).

Re: Tipping Question

Me too! I constantly serve the public, however tips are neither expected, nor can be accepted in my field. It would be considered unethical. It's interesting to me who gets a tip and who does not.

Thanks for all of your responses. Sounds like we should tip him. Somehow, I forgot about tips when we were budgeting, and they really do stack up!
