Re: Tipping Question- What about the priest???
We are getting married by a deacon also. We were told when we met with the priest the first time and when we had pre-cana (with the deacon and his wife) - NO TIPPING!!!
Marriage is a sacrament and they do not accept tips for sacraments. You wouldn't tip for a baptism or communion, you don't tip for a wedding. The only time you would tip is if you are having a mass then you tip the alter servers. You do not tip the organist or the vocalist either, their fees are covered in your 'donation.'

As far as I know, you don't need to tip the priest - and if you try to, they are supposed to decline. I believe it's the same for a deacon as well. Did you ask the rehearsal lady at HNM? She might be able to help you.

I don't think you are supposed to tip for a sacrament.

Definitely no tipping for the priest or deacon. If you want to show them your gratitude, then invite them to the RD.

We havent had our rehearsal yet so we werent sure.... do you think we need to tip Mr. Faughey? The organist and vocalist (same person will do both)?
I do know that Pat said to tip the alter boys $10 or $15 and we are only having a ceremony...

Our deacon specifically told us we are not allowed to tip for a sacrament - that it is not proper.
