We're going to Aventura Spa Palace next week (belated honeymoon - yay!)... it's an all inclusive.... I know that it says tipping is included, but how much money should I bring for tips? What's a fair tip to leave for dinner down there? Obviously there won't be anything with prices on the menus because it's all inclusive, but I was figuring maybe $10-20 depending on the type of dinner, $5 for lunch/breakfast and a few dollars at the snack places..... DH wants to know if that's too much to use American dollars.... what do you think??? and what is expected?

Re: tipping questions at all inclusive
From what I've heard, they won't accept tips at most all inclusives....but that's just hearsay..

At most all-inclusives the tip is 'included' with the price they charge you. Check it out to see if that's how your place works.
But yeah, most people at all-inclusives don't accept tips.
Have fun!

Re: tipping questions at all inclusive
My FH and I went to Secrets in Riviera Maya down there over a year ago and it was all inclusive. Yes we knew tips were included but we still did leave few dollars tip here and there every day. breakfast, lunch dinner, poolside, etc. Housekeeping we left it few times during a week. We brought alot of singles and fives for tipping. We gave about $150.00 in a week. When i get good service, i like to leave a tip. There was only one time that we didnt leave a tip and that was because the service was bad that time. I doubt they make alot of money there so they appreciate it. We left $10.00 one night and you should have seen the waiters. They did a triple take on the $10.00 and they thanked us with BIG smile. i definitely don't mind giving a little extra when well deserved even though it's already included.
btw... i hear Aventura Spa Palace is a beautiful place and yes, they do accept tips. lol

Re: tipping questions at all inclusive
ehh i went to an all inclusive and i tipped - these people do not make a lot of money and they are usually so helpful
i would tip $10 for dinner, $5 for lunch and if you want GREAT service leave like $10 after your first round of drinks at the bar . .. it will be like having your own personal bartender for the night LOL
if i was having a fancy shmancy dinner i might even tip $20
(FH was a waiter/busboy/valet for years so he is very sensitive about this LOL)

Re: tipping questions at all inclusive
I go to all inclusives a lot and always tip as much as I can.... its appreciated down there. We usually give $2 - $3 per drink and personally give waiters about $5 per meal. If I go for a wekk I bring about $100 in singles and spend them all week. One time we had such a great waiter who waited on us all week and we gave him a $20 he almost started crying.

Re: tipping questions at all inclusive
When FH & I went to Jamaica it was all inclusive, including tips. They say they won't accept tips, but they do. You cannot tip them blatantly out in the open. We tipped the guy that brought our bags to our room. We left a tip for housekeeping and we tipped the bartender at the martini bar at the end of the night whenever we were there.
