Tipping the Photographer?

Tipping the Photographer?

My photographer sent us a bill that was due and in the letter they stamped on that tips were greatly appreciated. I found it a bit tacky (maybe Im too much) but I feel that if the service they perform that day is impeccable, then I should have the right to tip them. Am I looking in to this too much? How much should I tip. I have (1) photographer, (1) assistant, and (1) videographer.

omg! That is tacky. I think people are they way you are thinking ' if they do a good job, then tip them'... it shouldn't have had to be stated. BUT on the flip side... for someone who IS clueless, than I think that they'd rather be 'safe than sorry' (i know stupid saying).

I have no idea how much to tip.... tha's a good question

I thought it was me, but apparently not ( I feel much better) I am scared though if I dont tip them well enough to their standards, that my pictures and video will be the victims. On the other hand, I dont want to give too much which I have a very bad habit of doing, I just feel that if I loved a service that was done for me, I am not going to go with the standards, I am going to go beyond and meet with their service.

WOW definitely wasnt you, that is so tacky!!! how can you request a tip before you have performed the service??? As someone who has worked in the service industry in the past, i can fully appreciate how important tips are, but soliciting them is just plain tacky. Maybe you could give like 50 each and say that youll tip further upon the final product?? I am curious to what other BTB say cause i really have no idea lol, but youre right, very tacky.

I would say to the photographer,

'My Fiance and I have no problem tipping you. However, we would rather wait until after we receive our proofs. We're afraid that we may end up tipping you too little for your hard work and excellent service, if we were to tip you ahead of time.'

as a general feeling, I think that it is DISGUSTING for vendors to REQUEST a tip...

I tipped my photographer $100 and his assistant $50. They were with us the whole day.

I was thinking around 100 for the photographer 50 the assistant and 100 for the video and 50 for his assistant. Thanks girls. Keep me posted if you know anything else.
