Re: Tipping Tips - Photographers & Videoagraphers
That's way this is called a forum...We are ALL entitled to our own opions and suggestions. I appreciate yours and hope you do the same with mine. I agree everyone has their hand out and charge mega bucks for the day, and tips are NEVER to be taken for granted, however it gets my goat when I have to tip a band or DJ for only a few hours of work (maybe 2 1/2) They state it right in their contracts!!!!!!!!!!

Totally agree with you on that. I just stopped thinking of them as tips and incorporate it into my budget.PS: Your band/DJ should not be including tips into their contracts. Or at least that is not customary.

Re: Tipping Tips - Photographers & Videoagraphers
I have NEVER heard of a DJ or band putting a 'tip' into a contract. That is very odd.I also plan on having tips ready to go on that big day but do not believe that professional people who make a fair salary should be tipped all the time. Again, when I leave work no one comes up to me and hands me an enevelope. I get a paycheck, like most other professional. Let's remember only the wait staff, valet and coat check person is working for a lower salary.
Tipping is a personal decison and budget has a lot to do with it. You give what you can to who you think deserves it.
And please refrain from calling brides 'honey' and making rude comments. She was only pointing out that not ALL vendors do a great job and deserve tips.

Sonicstef, Christine, & Michele31...I COULD NOT AGREE WITH YOU MORE!
I believe that the idea of tipping has gone out of control lately...especially with the wedding industry. What happened to the time when a tip was given as a reward for good service??? These days, tips are just EXPECTED! I am a teacher, that is what I get paid to do. I NEVER get tips from parents when I go above and beyond my duty as a teacher. This analogy may be far fetched but, it just proves my point.
