Tipping Vendors?

Tipping Vendors?

Exactly who do you tip and how much. What if they own the company. I thought I had it all figured out!

Thanks!

Re: Tipping Vendors?

There seems to be alot of personal opinions on this. Let me preface what I say with my opinion that tipping in the wedding industry is out of control and it is no longer a 'tip' it seems to be something that is expected and expected in large amounts.

That said, I am not tipping any owners. I feel that they are getting enough to begin with and I am sure they set their prices so that they can pay themselves a good amount out of it.

I will be tipping others as follows....

Catering Hall ($450) per their request of $3pp to be split between Maitre D, captain and Bridal Attendant. Lower than I thought but this is what we were told to give so that's what they are getting.

Photographer $100....he will be spending over 12 hours with me and is coming to me, then to FH, then to photo shoot site, then to catering hall

Videographer...ditto to photographer.

DJ/MC $50 each

Wedding Coordinator assistant $50

That is it. I will not be tipping my officiant or ceremony musicaians as they are each 'owners' of the business. Our tip is included in our limo price and they will not be getting extra.

Hope this helps.
I am not the norm though and I am sure you will find girls that will tip more vendors than I am.

Thanks for the advice. I certainly agree with you. My Photographer and DJ both own the business so I figured they didn't need one or at least one as large as the others.
