Tipping Vendors Who Are Owners?

Tipping Vendors Who Are Owners?

I know this must have come up 100 times but I can't seem to find it ...

If it's Joe Smith's Photography and Joe Smith shoots your pix, do you STILL tip him?

If your reverend charges $500 - no suggested donation but a straight up fee, do you still tip?

Also I just saw some article that said to tip pretty much everyone 15% then the tip list everyone rehashes on here is like $50 per photog, $50 for limo driver, etc. Our limo is $600, that means the tip would be $90????

15% seems high. So if your photographer is $6000...you give a $900 tip? Cant be : )

Isn't there a 20% grat already included with the limo?? Most companies included that already for them.

Owners of companies, according to etiquette, should never except tips nor expect them. Yet they do so I'm not sure how to handle it. Its such a big day that'd I rather throw everyone some $$ then have them all annoyed at me!

I'm just tipping everyone.

i'm kind of in the same boat. I don't want to be cheap, but let's be honest, I've spent so much, I don't want to give away money. I absolutely have had owners accept tips, but yet when I got for my eyebrows, the owner does them and she WILL not accept a tip from me.

We tipped everyone and we had mostly the owners as our vendors day of. I tipped everyone $50-$75 per person (what I mean is, there were 3 photographers, I tipped them each $50-$75).

IMO, you tip what you see fit.

I'm not sure yet what I'm doing with tipping. I'll probably tip the DJ about $50, but not the MC because he's the owner I believe. Then I'm going to tip the maitre d (prob around $200? not sure yet). The limo i'll probably give about $80 (gratuity is not included). And of course the pastors I'll get a gift for (they don't charge, since it's my home church). There's also a woman in my church who kinda 'assists' during the ceremony that i need to get a little gift for. And that's it. I'm still not sure about Photographer.

I just feel like tips are sooo annoying. I'm already paying SO much for everything, that to add a tip on top of it is just nonsense. I wish they would just have one flat rate so that i don't need to worry about what's too much and what's too little. I really don't wanna be thinking about it. Makes me crazy trying to figure everything out

Re: Tipping Vendors Who Are Owners?

I'm not tipping the limo cuz 20% gratuity is included.

My DJ owns the business so I am giving him $100--$50 for each guy

My videographer owns the business so I'm giving them $100 as well--$50 for each person

My photographer I am giving $100

My reverend $50

Bridal Attendant $100

Banquet Manager-gifts

Mait're D-$500 which I was told is split among the staff.......But there is an 18% charge that goes towards salaries at my hall......

I'm giving the florist $20

Do I have to tip for the cake? How would I do that?? It's delivered to the hall???????

hi ally! we didn't tip our vendors that were 'owners' of their own company. for instance, our photographer was independent, didn't work for a company and we didn't tip him. same thing with our rabbi. i read so many conflicting things about it so i just went with what my MOH did at her wedding. i've seen our photographer since the wedding and he doesn't seem to harbor any resentment that he didn't get a tip do what makes you feel comfortable and what you can afford!!

Yes, you tip the owners. A tip is to show appreciation for a service provided. If you feel they deserve a tip, then you tip them, owner or not.
