How much did you tip your photographers? I've done searches, I've read the articles. I'm curious to know what people REALLY tipped them.

Also, if you got married in a church and your 'donation' included musicians, did you tip the musicians? If so, how much.

Our (hefty) donation includes the organist and singer. Are we supposed to tip them on top of their salary?

Our church said the only tips you are supposed to give are to the alter boys.
The organist etc get the money you provide to the church.

We tipped the organist and singer $50 each for the wedding on top of the 'donation'...tipped the Mnsgr $100...alter servers $20 each....

For our photographer we gave him $100 and his assistant $50...

Thanks!

Anyone else?

I've done searches. They all come up with threads at least 2 years old, most 4 or 5 years...

Hi Kara,

I've sung at countless weddings...and I've never been tipped. I don't think cantors expect it particularly since they are getting a cut of your donation. Usually we get at least $100, so honestly, i wouldn't tip. Would it be appreciated, SURE! Is it necessary.... NO

FYI: for a church wedding, you should give the altar servers a little something if you are having a Mass. (My altar servers were children in the family, so what I gave them is not what you would give a stranger). I hear the going rate for altar servers is $10-$20 each)

I did not tip my photographer... he was the owner of the company....

Thank you.

We're not having a mass, so I don't expect altar servers... if for some reason we wind up with them, they'll definitely get $20 or something!
