What are you planning to tip your DOC? Also, does anyone have a list of tipping for ALL the different vendors? TIA

Tipping your DOC
This is the tipping guidelines I was given: This is a guideline for tipping your vendors for the day of your event. Keep in mind that this is a guideline and you should give a gratuity based on performance of their services. If you feel that a vendor has gone above and beyond, then feel free to give more and vice versa. Also, check your contracts to see if a gratuity was already included. A general guideline is 15%-20% of fees paid. Hair- $40-$50 Makeup- $40-$50 Photographer- $100-$175 Photog Asst.- $50-$100 Videographer- $100-$175 Video Asst. $50-$100 Limo- $40-$50 (each driver) Floral Delivery- $20-$40 DJ/MC- $100-$150 DJ asst. $40-$50 Band- 10% of cost Officiant- $25-$50 (not priest or church official) Altar persons- $20-$25 each Ceremony/ Cocktail Hour Music- $25-$50 (each musician) Bridal Attendant- $75-$100 Maitre-D’- $3-$5 per person Coordinator’s Assistant- $75-$100 Coordinator- Your discretion
I tipped my DOC $150. She was with me for 6 hours.

I like your list better than the one my DOC gave me lol Im running at 1000.00 just in tips which I think is crazy. I thought a tip was a thank you and a appreciation since we are already paying for the services. I thought 25.00 tip for the DJ would be ok but now I see these prices and I dont want to be cheap. I feel like we are going to be opening up envelopes in the bridal suite just so we can give out tips.

Thank you for posting! The 10% for the band just made me want to vomit a little. Is this was people really tip bands? That's $700 right there....ugh.

What if the person performing the service is a independent contractor? Do you still tip?

I think its ridiculous. I think a tip is to say hey you did a great job. I kind of expect that you do a good job though cause Im already paying you thousands for your services and you get a free meal. A tip should be a thank you. The fact that according to my calculations Ill be paying 1000.00 just in tips is crazy. My photographer who is with me all day should get a 150.00 tip but photobooth person who is with me 4 hours in the hall should get 100.00.....how does that make sense?

That's too much. I heard 50 a band member was good, which is way more reasonable

The Maitre-D' gets $3 to $5 per person? You mean per guest? If that is true, then I can't afford that. There are other people that we need to tip as well. This is getting to be too much money.

When I was calculating the tips I did even tell DH because I knew he would have a heart attack especially since I was. But the amount for tips are ridiculous. I compared this guideline to others and made the best decision for me but still tipped them what they deserved.

That's definitely true for Maitre D, some places even suggest $5-7 per guest for them. See if it says anything in your venue contract or ask your banquet manager what they recommend.

I'm so confused- and I might just be bad at math, but if I do 15-20% of what I'm paying for certain things the tips are A LOT more than what you generally listed. And I'm on a tight budget so it's not like I'm over spending on these categories!

I only gave my photobooth attendant $50. $100 is way too much.

As for not tipping someone who owns the company, I didn't agree with that. If they do a good job I think they deserve a tip bc they are providing you w/ a service IMO. HTH!

The cost tipping will come out to is just insane! Ugh! Call me cheap but I am keeping my tipping on the lower end for most with the exception of a cpl of vendors who have gone above and beyond! The MD tip pisses me off because the it should already be included in that 20% extra I am paying in fees on top of the thousands the hall is already getting! Every wedding is $$$$!
