I know this thread is old but I did a search on tipping and found that people were tipping diffrently....some tip the dj $50 and others $100.
Do I have to tip the manager at the restaurant? I am having a small 60 person wedding and having it at a restaurant. They are adding 20% grat to bill, so the waitstaff and bartender are covered, but the manager is the one I am dealing with. Do I have to tip her?
Officiant - $200 and he and his wife are invited to the reception - is this okay?
Ceremony music - the owner is coming herself with her husband, am I supposed to tip them on top of the charge?
Florist?
Bakery?
DJ- he works for himself?
Photo / Video - is it a % of the total bill or do I just give them something each?
This tipping business is driving me mad.....my bank account is already burned out and now I have to start lining my dress with tip money
Any advice on the ins and outs of this really apprecaited.
Thanks

Re: Tipping??Is it a % or how do you decide?
I tip based on a percentage of the service. DJ usually gets 10%, BM gets 10%, Not tipping Florist or Photographer - maybe the assistant.

Re: Tipping??Is it a % or how do you decide?
We are giving the DJ between $50-100 depending on how good/not good he is.
We are having a matre d' who is taking care of the timing for the day and we were 'recommended' to give him between $2.50-3.00/pp
Officiant - Are you paying him to do your ceremony?
Ceremony music - the owner is coming herself with her husband, am I supposed to tip them on top of the charge? Not sure
Florist? - tip the delivery person $20-25
Bakery? - tip the delivery person $20-25
Photo / Video - Since you won't know how good they are until after you receive the photos and video, I would hold off and give them $50-100 each depending on the service received.
It's a PITA - but it's something we have to do

Thanks for the info....
The church is not charging me a church fee as its my local church so feel obligated to give the deacon something.
I guess like everything if there were hard and fast rules it would be easier....I dont want to be a cheap skate but dont want to overtip either.....and I did work in the service industry for a long time so am aware of the whole tipping thing...
