if you notice everybody tips differently so do what you are comfortable with and based on their performance that night. Some have said they tipped $50-100 and others $100-200 and a few tipped over. Just give what you want.

Maitre'd is not included in the 20% gratuity. Its anywhere from $3-6 per person. Also the maitre'd at many places have to split that tip with your banquet manager so they don't get to keep the whole thing, so remember that when tipping.

Also theres bridal attendants, i had 2

then theres florist delivery for day of

videographer if you do that

dj/band

hair and make up artist

limo's

altar boys

it does add up, especially if you have a big wedding then the maitre'd tip gets bigger. Or if you have a band then more ppl to tip. Definitely just put aside 2-3k for tips just in case.

Re: tips

I have a question about the bartenders..do they have a tip jar because I know my guests are great tippers at other events I have had..I will be giving on top of that but I will tip more if they don't have a tip jar.

it will be different for everybody, not everyone will pay same amount of tips. Depends on several factors.

maitre'd is the biggest tip you'll give. The less ppl you have the less you'll tip. Even if everyone lets say did the same amount, lets say $4 or 5 per person. If you have 100 ppl and someone else has 300 guests it will be a big difference in tips. Our maitre'd tip was over $1k alone

then some have more limo's then others so if someone has 1 limo then less ppl to tip some will have 2 or 3 limo's so they'll have more.

Some have 1 bridal attendant, others will have 2. At JT they provided 2 for us.

some have videographers while others dont, some have a DOC and others dont.

If someone has a band instead of a dj, they have a lot more ppl to tip. Instead of just mc and dj they might have an 8 or 9 piece band, even if they dont tip them each alot it does add up. Even if you tip them $50 each thats about $400-450 for just band members so maitre'd and band alone will be over $1k or right about $1k in your tips

or for example not only did we have to tip for flower delivery we also got this service pedestals provided which was at the end of the ceremony they send 2 workers to come and wrap cp's by breaking each cp into several arrangements and handing it to guests as they leave, we also had to tip each one.

Our limo company also sent a limo at the end of the night to take us to hotel. Now this was free and although we weren't charged for it we still tipped the guy for driving us from LI to manhattan at 2:00am

I know, seriously its disgusting. Honestly with the costs of these things as it is they should just include it in the price. This way you dont have to worry about these things that day and you know off the bat what you are spending.

Re: tips

there's is no way any of these people is getting tipped by me and FH. we even asked our BM what is expected of us in this aspect, and he said that it all at our own discretion, even the maitre d (altho they are recommending $3-$5pp for him). everybody else, especially the video and photos i really dont see any reasoning for giving them tips. as it is the fees for their services arent coming cheap, to say the least, so what are the tips for? for doing the job that they were hired to do???
crazy...

well a tip is not mandatory its only if you want and how much you give is up to you. I would get annoyed if a vendor had put tip in the contract lol. The only thing is Rh will suggest what to tip the maitre'd but again thats up to you.

If you don't want to then you don't have to. But photo just remember there is still work to do after the wedding, they still have to do your pics and albums lol.

Re: tips

IMO everyone is getting a tip yes they are paid for their services but so is a waitress in a restaurant but I still tip them when I go out. These people are working with you for hours. JMO

So what happens if you don't tip these vendors? The photographer doesn't give you your pictures I dunno but $400 sounds like an awful lot for a tip.

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE!! These people are making a helluva lot more than any waiter/waitress in a restaurant.

IMO...I think that if the tip is included in the Limo price then there is no need to tip again. If the person that is doing the photo/video owns the place then why are you going to tip the person that is making 100% of the profit. As for the flower delivery...yeah, give the guy a 20. The Matrie'd should be tipped but I think you should tip at your discretion no matter what the RH recommends. If the person is AWESOME then give them a good tip...if the person ***** then give them $1pp. Tips are always at your discretion and since we live in NY (one of the only places that tips for EVERYTHING) you should use your disrection when tipping. Don't feel obligated but if they did an amazing job then give 'em a lil extra.

I heard to tip the RH before so you better service but then again..my best friend had horrid service at her RH and it was a struggle after that night to fix stuff.

Re: tips

I'd like to know what is an appropriate amount to tip for the photographer and for the dj?

Is 50 bucks good?
