tips for looong drives?

hi girls-
we are driving down to fla on this THURS in our VW Eurovan. My Brother is joining us !! (YAY!!! )..

any tips for making the drive easier for Julianne (almost one)?....(and therefore easier for us)

We plan to leave around 7am and stop overnight in Selma NC - the 1/2 way point. Already have a hotel room booked and they have a crib.

Plan on stopping every 2-3 hours ...more if she's up and antsy...less when she is asleep

BTW< she developed a cough yesterday..

Appreciate any tips..

Bring her favorite toys. Bring some books. Get a tape/cd of kids music for the car. (Asprin for yourself ) If she starts to get antsy. Try to stop at a mall or something. SO you can walk around & she will feel like she's out. Make sure you give her the cough medcine about an hour or so before you leave. She will probably get drowsy & you can make some head way.

Good luck!!!!!!!

We are going to Orlando Jan 7th.

My mother bought Emma a portable DVD player. We are going to watch Nemo and Baby Einstein over and over and over. Make sure you have PLENTY of toys. Make sure someone is sitting right next to her to keep her occupied (I only know this because Emma has made about 10 trips upstate, 6 hours away, since shes been born). Make sure you have plenty of snacks. And stop every couple of hours for about 1/2 an hour for diaper changes and time to move.

Im wishing you LOTS of luck!

Good luck. I don't really have any tips but I would love to know what works for you. I have to make the drive up from FL to Mass. in July with Adeline AND our dog Madaket!

Re: tips for looong drives?

we have a portable dvd player..but Julianne is still backward facing int he car seat...no one has THAT much muscle strength to hold up the dvd player for that long...besides it could be dangerous in an accident

will hope that she will fall asleep around 10ish..like she does onthe weekend when we are out....

ugh- 100 fever now accding to hubby.
hope this breaks soon
