You tip a million people!!!
This is what I gave:
Flower delivery person - $25
Photographer - $150 (I was going to give more when I received the proofs, but because they were so horrible, I wish I could take back the dinner for him and his assisstant and the $150 we gave him ) That's the hard part for tipping before you see a final product - keep that in mind.
Videographer - $100 and dinner(more after the final prduct)
DJ - $100 and dinner
Limo - was included, but my dad gave them $50 each on top (which was totally uneccesary)
Maitre D' - $350 (too much, considering he threw away the top of my cake and did not take care of any problems during the evening - I had to!)
Bridal Attendant - $0 - she was fired 20 minutes after my wedding began
Keep in mind, this is what I tipped, it's a personal thing. Many people on here may think I'm cheap or they may think I was generous. You just have to do what you can afford and what you think is good.
I asked one of my friends this question and she told me 'I forgot to bring cash the day of, so I didn't tip anybody'. I was stunned - but she still had a great wedding and everybody did the job they were supposed to do. I say don't sweat the tipping.

persoally i don't see why you should tip at all. the prices for anything pertaining to a wedding is over priced as is and alot of vendors include their tip in the price of their services. i would see tipping the wedding coordinator if he/she did an outstanding job and went far beyond what was required of them. the limo drivers tip is included in the price of the service which is an extra 20%. the photographer and videographer i would give the a tip once i see my finish product and not before. no one desires a tip for a crappy job!!! the only other person i would give a tip to on the day of the wedding would be the DJ as long as he live up to my expectation and i see my guest had a great time on the dance floor. you may say that is being cheap and that's ok. a tip is earned for good work and not a reward for bad work or service.

Everyone is going to be expecting a tip and looking at my contracts a lot of them state that 20% gratuity is expected. You should figure out what that 20% is and then only give what you think they deserve, after they come through. If someone does a really poor job, then they don’t deserve a tip!
This was one of the most stressful part of my night because I felt like I was being attacked by scavengers. My number one advise is let someone else be in charge of the envelopes and handing them out, because EVERY vendor came up to ME toward the end of the night looking for a tip. Seriously the night wasn’t even over and I was being interrupted because someone is expecting a tip. I just said 'Go speak to my father'.
By the way.. I didn't feel that my matrede did a good job. She was nasty to me all night. So we only gave her $100! She had the nerve to have her manager come up to my parents to say that 'Traditionally you are supposed to give $1-2 per person at the wedding'
We simply said she did not earn it. Maybe we were being cheap, but she was nasty and therefore we did not feel she deserved a bigger tip.

AliKing...OMG...did she really have the nerve to say that?!?

I also agree with Ladyluv...I'm just trying to get opinions from everyone as to who should be tipped and what amounts (or at least ranges) people have tipped.

I agree with LADYLUV. Part of the costs of the affair is 'service charges' a.k.a. tips. I don't think it's right to have to give an extra tip. But it's expected so this is around what we will be giving.

Maitre d gets about $1.50-2.00 per guest, depending on how good a job they do.

Bridal attendant gets $50-100, again job depending.

DJ gets anywhere from $50-100 (although some say they require a tip, mine says a tip is just that... a thank you for a job well done. Don't tip unless you think they deserve it.)

Valet/ coat check-some halls include this in your costs, sometimes you pay extra. Should be around $1.00-1.50 per coat, or $2.00 per car.

Photo/video I don't think I will tip until I have seen the finished product, unless they go out of their way to do something special at the wedding itself.

We aren't having limos. An unecessary expense as far as we are concerned.

Franksbride this is what we tipped, the envelopes were originally bigger, but it was based on performance:

matrede $100 (you know the story)
DJ/ MC $100 each (they were terrible, probably didn’t deserve a tip at all)
Limo - 20%
Videographer - $150 (did a great job, this may change when I see the video)
Photographer - $150 (great job, however left 1/2 hour before affair ended)
Bridal Attendant - $100 (because she left in the middle of the affair)

Re: TIPS...I know this has been asked thousands of times...

I know its crazy to think that after all of the money we are spending including the gratuity that we still are encouraged to tip. I guess its been the custom and that is why so many people do it. Heres what I am giving:

Photographer- $0 he is the owner and is making enough $$$ off of me.

Flower delivery guy- $25
Maitred D- About $300
Bridal attendant- $200 if good and worth it
limo guy- $30- even though gratuity is added, I still feel the need to tip...

church- $475 'offering ' fee- can you believe how much they charge..

$25 bucks each to any alter boys, singers or, organists I have.

am I missing anyone.

I hate to think of all the $$ I am spending but I dont want to look bad and not tip when so many people do.

anyone else have any other opinions on this?

Our reception site includes a pretty large maitre d' tip in the price - so we won't be tipping them. I'm not sure what we do about our band...I think they all get all of the money directly - not through an agent or anything like that - do we tip them then? Who else are we supposed to tip? I know the Bridal Attendent - that will depend on her service! Photographers - yes - but what if you have the owner - i would think no then! This is very confusing!

When did you find out about the church 'fee'? We've been to two meeting with our priest and no mention of a fee has been made... I know not all churchs charge- so should I assume mine doesnt or will it pop up soon?

Im going to tip 25 per ceremony musician, Maite D 2-3 per guest, depending on how he does, photographer, 100 - 150, videographer 100, DJ 200 because he gave us a great deal ( we know him) and hes traveling to Long Island for me ona friday night from jersey, makeup 20%, hair 20%, I dont have a bridal attendent, and coat check, valet and wait staff are included already in our package. I think thats it,

Re: TIPS...I know this has been asked thousands of times...

Wow! I would never in a million years think of tipping a Priest- and didn't. My church 'donation' which I had to give in cash so they can rip off the IRS- I'm sure was some of his 'tip'.

I was totally against most of the 'tip' thing before the wedding. The day before, we decided we were going to let our Best Man handle all the tips and told him what we wanted to give. My Mom was going to give the MD his tip .... turns out my bridal attendant, who didn't even help clean off my dress of mud- got tipped 2x's. Mom & BM. OH well-
I did not tip the limo drivers extra- they got their $$
My Photographer- although I couldn't see the finished product- came early & worked his A55 off- which I knew he would. We gave him $200 & The b&w photographer $100.
Flower delivery- $20 (at each house)
Video- $100
DJ/MC- $100- the MC was the owner- if you ask me, he should've given the whole thing to the dj- although, they rocked and deserved more- I'm just broke at this point!

The MD- got a GOOD tip! I heard that he splits that among the staff/bar tenders etc... so- Mom hooked him up w/ almost $500 I think. That would be $2-$3 p/p.

Hope this helps you!

I don't think you're supposed to tip when the vendor is the owner. At any rate, I'm only working with owner/vendors, so I'm not tipping anyone but maybe my MD and Bridal Attendant. And maybe my DJ cause he was so cheap. And maybe my Jazz trio, cause they're super cheap. Hmm, maybe I should rethink this whole tipping thing, cause everyone is so cheap...

Hair/Makeup: $25 each
Photographers: $50 each
Executive Staff of Carlyle: $1400 (chef, Maitre'D, etc)
Bridal Attendant: $100
Flower Delivery: $20
Each band member x 12: $50.00
Limo Driver: extra $50 each because they were fantastically amazing.

I have to say that each & every vendor that I worked with deserved these tips.

ETS $50 for Officiant.
