We decided on Bill Levkoff dresses in tissue taffeta but I'm a little worried about the fabric. Does it get ruined easily? (especially by water -- like spills, flower stems, rain)
any experiences with this?

Re: Tissue taffeta dresses and water?
Style 555. I originally was thinking strapless but my girls tried this dress on and fell in love with it. They said they would do strapless, but felt more comfortable with a thin strap so we did the strap. There is a similar strapless version but it looks more like a separate top/bottom rather than one fluid piece, so they liked this style better.
It looked amazing on everyone and they all love it, so I can't wait for it to come in. I don't think I've seen any other brides with 555 but it's a great dress!
I'm using 557 in taffeta.. and I really really hope that's not the case.. maybe I should have found out about that sooner haha

I'm using 469 tissue tafetta taupe. We were b/w 555 and 469! I did the Jr BM version of 555 though...What color did you choose? I have worn this material for a wedding before and you do need to be careful, but I wasn't too worried obviously. It's a very popular material now!

I'm doing Bill Levkoff 308 in tissue taffeta also in indigo with a white sash, my sister fell in love with it and so did the other girls when they tried it on...its very light in weight and perfect for a summer wedding...I don't know able the water issue though..I know my satin dresses have always left some kind of mark when they got wet from either water or bubbles landing on it, not sure about this material though...sorry I guess this wasn't of much help...lol...

Re: Tissue taffeta dresses and water?
I just wore 557 in tissue taffeta for a friends wedding. The dress looked great the entire night. The flower girl spilled her bubbles on me and the dress was totally fine. I even spilled a rum and coke down my arm later and the dress was fine, you couldn't even see a stain. (btw- it was a total accident, totally sober!)
We are using Style 800 in my wedding. The fabric feels like but it is strong. You won't have any problems.

Thank you so much. I feel a lot better about it now. My mom was scaring me! I am doing callas w/ roses for BM flowers and love the half-wrap look where the stems show on the bottom. I just want to make sure that if the stems brush against their dresses it wont leave big stains. You dont think that would be a problem?
Edit: I LOVE LOVE LOVE style 800 but it's too similar to my dress. I can't wait to see your pictures. What color did you choose?

Re: Tissue taffeta dresses and water?
what colors are you using for the roses? I'm trying to figure out my flowers to go with the indigo...sorry I know I'm going off on a tangent with the topic, but I'm excited to hear someone else is doing indigo, I was worried about my color choice at first...

Re: Tissue taffeta dresses and water?
I actually paired a ton of diff flowers with it on my computer before meeting with the florist -- I can send that to you if you FM me your e-mail address.
In the end I decided I wanted calla lillies -- like a coraly color and white. After meeting with my florist we tentatively decided on coral callas and roses for BMs with the same + white callas mixed in for MOH. I might decide to leave out the roses, but it looked good when he paired it all together at our meeting. I think it's a very unique combo, especially since the indigo seems less common.
Yay more people with Indigo Tissue Taffeta! We haven't ordered yet but I'm nearly positive I'm going with it...I think we are going to do pink flowers though. I ordered a yard of the fabric to bring to the florist to help decide...should be here soon!!

We also ordered a yard of the fabric and took it to the florist. I think pink would look great too, but I am not a 'pink girl' and pink just isn't me.
Which dress style are you thinking? Yay for indigo! It was so hard to find anything in that color and now there seem to be a bunch of us going with indigo

Re: Tissue taffeta dresses and water?
Be careful with the tissue taffetta. A good friend of mine had her BM dresses in Tissue tafetta, I think they were J. Hejlm dresses and they had stains all over them from the bubbles after the ceremony and water marks!!!! Does NOT look nice in pictures. Try and get a fabric swatch and try it out for yourself before you make you final decision.

Well I'm definitely not doing bubbles...probably streamers instead and then sparklers later...so hopefully it won't be an issue!

THere were marks on the dresses not just from the bubbles but if anything wets them they dry with a mark. So if you splash while washing your hands, or someones drink in the limo etc.....

Re: Tissue taffeta dresses and water?
We'll have to tell the girls to be careful...I hope they would be anyway...hopefully since the color is darker it won't be as bad with water stains anyway...!

Re: Tissue taffeta dresses and water?
Just a note about tissue tafetta. I was BM in my cousin'tswedding, and when we blew bubbles when they were leaving the church it stained the dresses. meaning, the bubbles that landed on the dress popped and left stains that did not come out. We were al bummed about this being that they stayed there in picutes and for the rest of the night. So, if you have the option, I'd opt out of doing bubbles for this reason.
