Question:

Say if you would like to tape a show that isn't on in NY anymore but a TV station out in CA shows repeats. Will it record that if you ask it to?

There's a show I love but it's being repeated on a tv channel in CA which my cousin told me. It might be repeated elsewhere but not around here as far as I know.

Yes the monthly fee is $12.95, You might be able to buy lifetime service for THAT box for $300 (not sure if they offer that on refurbished boxes).

You can use TiVo without their service, but you have to manually set shows to record like you do on a VCR. TiVo won't download your cable/satellite company's lineup, so it won't search for your favorite shows if you set up a wish list by actor/actress, director, etc.... You will also have the ability to pause live TV for upto 30min even without paying the service.
