I dont think it was necessary. The lady at the reception hall was wonderful and catered to our every need.
I think that if you hire the right vendors, u shouldnt have to worry about everything 'coming together', there reps are on the line, especially because of this site, so most of them will come together and it should all work out beautifully!
i myself am a very detail oriented person, so before the wedding i made sure everything was taken care of.. And, on the day of our wedding, everything 'came together' and worked out perfectly!

i didn't BUT wish i had b/c the caterer/event planner i worked with was HORRIBLE. they were supposed to coordinate everything the day of but they didn't (for example, they never put on the prelude music for the ceremony). would have been nice to have someone other than me, dh and bridal party keeping on top of things.

We didn't have one and everything ran pretty smoothly, as smoothly as I think it would've ran if we had one!
ETA: And we didn't get married at RH.

I think it differs a bit if you are getting married at the RH or not. If you are, then potentially you can do without one. However, if you aren't, they may be able to help you a lot.

I had a DOC. Even though mine was a total disaster and ended up costing me more money because of her mistakes, she did help me. If I had to do it over again, I would definitely have a DOC. I just would have used a different one.

We didn't have one and didn't see a need at all. I loved all the planning that we did and felt that the matr'd at the East Winds was awesome, so I didn't think we needed one at all.

I had one, and there is no way on this earth my day would have gone as smoothly as it did without her. All the details are in my review.

I did not, but the BM and the bridal attandant ant my hall were incredibly helpful pulling all of my details together. Also, they used their own in house person for favours & invites so that was a help too.
If I had to do it over I would have used someone to help with the church and limo details, which were damned near disasterous.
ETA: I also can't help but think if I had a DOC that I might have ahd time to eat at some point during the day. I was constantly being pulled away from my food to answer some question or take some pic. I really just wanted to eat!

I didn't but in hind sight should have. There were little things that happened that had I hired a DOC wouldn't have.
If you have the room in your budget to hire one, DO IT!!!

I had one just for the morning and she was a godsend, and so was her assistant!
They got me in control, set up my ceremony at the Church (flowers, bows, programs, etc) and helped me at my place when we were getting prepared.
Worth it all in my opinion. I said bye to her after the ceremony when we left in the limo and then my Matre-D took over.

I agree - and I wasn't the most organized person, and still felt I had everything under control - I had the MD there who was awesome - she took care of everything....

Didn't have one and was totally fine...our matre'd and bridal attendant took care of everything and I had no worries since everything prior to that was planned out perfectly!
