You don't have too pay that much -- try going with someone who gets flowers wholesale. It depends what you want. If you want really eleborate over the top stuff you'll probably pay a lot. I paid $700 for 7 bouquets, 14 bout., 14 corsages, and 14 pew bows. My centerpieces were included in the hall price but I'm sure she would have done them for a good price too. Her name is Maryann and she is with Sprigs and Twigs (Papa's Nursery) in Central Islip on Connetquot Ave. I gave her a picture of the bouquet I wanted for me and she did it to a tee! And I gave her some guidelines for the BM and showed her the BM dress -- and they came out perfect. I was truly happy with them.

Burton's
Call Burton's in Huntington. I found them to be very reasonable and the flowers I saw there were beautiful. I dealt with Michael and he was very easy to work with.

To brides who already have florists...
I am getting my flowers from a local florist in town. My wedding day is the day before Mother's Day, and I thought I'd get raked over the coals, but all the estimates I got were reasonable. However, my reception hall provides floral table centerpieces, so this is all I ended up getting from the florist: My bridal bouquet 1 Maid of Honor bouquet 1 Matron of Honor bouquet 4 Bridesmaid bouquets 1 Groom Bout of stephanotis sprigs 10 other bouts of dendrobidium (sp?) orchids 4 corsages, any type we want, with any flowers, etc. throw away bouquet floral piece for the brides home Total Price = $630!!!! My bouquet is all Sahara roses, with stephanotis. The bridemaids are also roses, lisianthus, and hydrangeas. We are very pleased and can't wait. It's worth it to stay away from floral factories (those that cater to weddings specifically) and shop the locals. We did great!!

Like Irene said - Flowers by Burton, on Route 110 was great! I paid $1900, and got 10 table centerpieces (glorious, tall, spiraling ones with candles along the spirals), 4 bridesmaids' bouquets, my bouquet, about 10 bout., and two mothers' corsages. The flowers were beautiful (I could've had any flowers I wanted for the same price, by the way), arrived on time, and lasted forever! Lots of comments. Good luck. (I worked with John, by the way.)

My florist is a friend of the family...hes giving us a discount off the total bill...I don't know if he put real prices or if he discounted the price too...my mom thinks they are the real price and he will just add more flowers to everything... bride bouquet 175 MOH 75 5 bridesmaids 65 each 11 boutonnieres 6 each 4 corsages 15 each 15 cntrpieces 60ea(I will need more) set up and delivery 50 total 1650 (without discount) my hall has flowers already in bathroom and the ceremony is going to be in the garden and the centerpieces will line the aisle. I think I will use bridesmaids bouquets to decorate cake table...

I just compared prices of the 4 florists I visited
and put it all in a spreadsheet - I'd be happy to send it to you so you can see the price differences for each piece... Flower Michele Florist (John) James Cress Burton's (Mike) Flowers by Rosemarie I was looking to simple bouquets and use lots of tulips and candles for the centerpieces. I will say I was totally turned-off by Rosemarie when she told me to buy my own ribbon for the girl's bouquets and my own candles. While her price was the lowest, it was because she was supplying the least.

Thanks so much but please post
contact info and how far out they are on the island. Since I don't live in LI (wedding in Brooklyn) I have no clue where these florists are. Thanks again!

To Stef - definitely go local to Brooklyn...
Stef, take the advice of one of the other brides and use a florist local to where you live!! It will save you so much headache. The 'wedding factory' florists on LI are very expensive. Also, decide what type of flowers you want to use. Use whatever is in season (or will complement your theme). Mums and sunflowers are very popular and beautiful in the Fall, and could be cheaper than roses. I also used a local floral shop, and they out-did themselves! I even got some add-ons for free. I spent $2100 on: 15 tables centerpieces 4 cocktail table/cake table pieces 2 church baskets 1 bridal bouquet 1 MOH bouquet 4 bridesmaids 1 groom boutinerre 5 GM boutinerre 4 Father/Grandfather boutinerre (free) 5 Mother/Grandmother coursages (free) 6 pew bows (free) Also, I wanted to tell you that I just received the Martha By Mail catalog, and there's an acorn ornament on sale. I know you were looking for something like that, and wanted to mention it. Good luck!

Thanks MiniBride - local florists want
$4K for the simpliest stuff. Even if I have to be charged a delivery fee it still would be a lot cheaper. Im not expecting it to be free but $4 for a small wedding is just ridiculous! I tried to give the business to my neighborhood but they have completely lost their mind - one of them wanted to charge me $400 for delivery to the site which is a 5 minute walk!

Steph...I am
meeting with Burtons and I have heard great stuff about them. The director at the golf course (where I am getting married) told me about them. She said that although the do not 'officially' recommend them she has seen some of the nicest work come from that shop. James Crest does beautiful work but is expensive. Both are in Suffolk County.
