My cousin and her mother were invited to a wedding on saturday. My aunt responded with a plus one. Her plus one backed out. She asked me who knows the girl but not well. Is that inappropriate or should she just go alone?
I don't think it is. If the seat is already reserved and paid for i wouldn't care if it were me. Im inviting my single guests with dates if they want. I dont care if they bring there grandmother, some random guy or there sister. You will be company for her.
If it's this Saturday then they already gave their final count, so they'll be paying for the seat regardless of whether you go. So go and enjoy yourself!

don't think it's inappropriate at all. i'd have your aunt email her and explain the situation but I'm sure the bride will be happy to have the seat filled.
For your own sanity just shoot her an email to avoid any akwardness...she should be fine
