It's not so much the cost of this and that...but when you have to add in the tips and tax.....wow that truly makes a difference.

We're paying as we go, but we're not going to spend an outrageous amount of money for anything. We'll know when we can't afford something.

Well my original bdget is unreasonable. I have an idea of what I'd like to spend. And what I consider too much. I've plugged my highest limit into a budget calc. so as I shop around I have an idea of what I should spend on each vendor. Sometimes like photography you can get away without getting the extras and save money that way. I'm taking advantage of the amount of time I have to really shop around. Driving FH crazy but getting good prices.

If you deal in cash they won't charge you the tax. Make sur eyou get and save reciepts.

Re: To budget or not to budget

yeah, my original budget ( which i created BEFORE i booked my hall) ended up being the price of the hall plus about $5K

obviously that isnt going to work out! I heard a good start for a budget is double what you are paying for your hall - i am almost done with the big vendors and I think that is a reasonable guess

paying as we go but what i did was basically estimate how much my wedding would cost.

You know in the magazine when they show you a breakdown and have things you dont even think of...well i already know how much rh will cost so that helps alot...then i estimated all those other things, and didnt do under like alot of people do bc they just hope theyll spend that much..then i calculated how much each fh and i would make until our wedding, then i divided the budget by how much we make, then took that amount and divided it to see how much we need to put aside every paycheck...this way i can put whatever i need into savings and then the rest stays in checking and i can spend freely without having to worry about it.

so far paying as we go! so far most of the majority of our vendors are booked now we just have to set aside payments for all of our vendors but so far we are doing good as paying everyone
