To Bustle or Not to Bustle???

That is the question. I bought my dress from estelles and they dont do alterations, so i took my dress to a little old italian woman that has been a seamstress for many years. She did a great job on the hem and bust line, but she couldnt figure out a way to bustle the dress without if puckering on the sides. She told me that i should just hold the bottom of the dress. Is anyone doing that? I really want a french bustle but where can i take it??

That's not optimal. Take it to another seamstress who can do the bustle. Look for a pic online of the dress and give it to another seamstress for opnions. You holding your dress all night is a nightrmare.

i would think a bustle is neccesary - i would be worried about people stepping on the dress and tripping.

Although my girlfriend had a very small train, and left it down for the reception - it looked stunning!

i would find someone else who could bustle it.
Do you have a picture of the dress?

I agree, I would get a pic of what you want and take it somewhere else. I have a semi cathedral train and there's no way I would want to carry that around all night.

I would either find someone else who can do the bustle properly, or I would cut the train out completely. you will not want to walk around all night tripping over your train.

I agree with the other girls...a gown without a bustle would annoy the heck out of me. You're going to want to dance, and it will get old quickly if you have to hold your gown.
