I'm new to this site but could not wait to start chatting. I'm looking at venues and wondering what some other brides think. My fiance and I are avid boaters and we would like to have a beach/nautical theme. With that I am thinking about having our reception on a yacht.
One I am looking at is the Nautical Princess in Freeport. Some of my bridesmaids weren't thrilled with the idea. and my future mother in law is also weary of it because people may get sea sick. Any opinions? Your feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

Re: To cruise or not to cruise?
the only thing about having it on the water is if somebody needs to leave, they can't leave. A client of mine did it and i can get some info if you want. they did a city one

i think you are better off just using it as your theme. many people may fear getting sick or just have a fear of boats and you wouldnt want that to be your deciding factor if the guest comes or not.
there are so many things out there that can look beautiful with a nautical theme
ETA: maybe take your e-pics on the boat instead!

I agree with Jackie. Also, what if it rains??? You'd need a very substantial back up plan.

as someone who gets violently seasick, I would say to stick to dry land you just never know, and if there is bad weather, it will be even worse and people may get ill at the wedding, which would be terrible! I agree with the pp, just use it as a theme!

Chateau La Mer is a little nautical, and you can pull up to the cocktail hour on their yacht.

I would probably RSVP no to a wedding on a boat...I get violently ill on small boats. Also we have a small child and god forbid something happens there's no way to get off the boat any sooner than when the party is over.
I just don't like the idea of trapping people at your party. Better to stick with the theme and not the actuality.

You should DEFINITELY look at Chatau La Mer. You & FH can sail into your cocktail hour on a boat while all of you guests look on and wave from dry land! My friend did this.

Chateau Le Meur is a good place to look and also Danfords since it is right on the water.

Speaking of weddings on a boat, I think it was last week's episode of Four Weddings that one of the girls did it on a boat. Definitely were some very postitive aspects, but one of the women was pretty sea sick!
