So, I have hair that's about, eh, shoulder length right now. I also have hair that looks absolutly terrible unless it's about 1 1/2 inches shorter than it is right now (due to the fact that I'm deficiant when it comes to styling my hair).
Anyhow, I was thinking i should grow it out for the wedding (which is about a year away). But that means a year of ponytails (except on that rare occasion where my hair actually looks good down). Should I tough it out? Or do you know of any updos that can be done on slightly shorter hair?
Thanks for your help!

Re: To cut or not to cut....
To be honest, I cut my hair for my Engagment party in Sept 03, I haven't touched it to this day. It's long but not unbearable.
I would grow it out if you so choose. You can do other things with your hair other than a ponytail. I would grow it out if it means it will look better for the wedding.

Re: To cut or not to cut....
my regular stylist told me to keep getting it cut, but my wedding stylist told me not to. I am going next week, for ' the tiniest trim possible' So it won't be longer than usual, but it should grow in enough to be on the long end of my ususual range.

Talk to your stlyist about what you might like for the wedding, then she/he can tell you if you have time to cut it or not.

Re: To cut or not to cut....
Definitely talk to the stylist. My sister had shoulder lenght hair and her updo looked awesome. They usually add a pad under the hair so it looks like you have more hair than you have. I actually hada problem once. I grew out my hair for an updo, and when i got there, they actually said my hair was too long. But then for my sister's wedding, my hair was even longer, and I tld them they could cut it if need me and they said no way, it was fine. I think it depends on the stylist's preference..so ask around about it!

I wouldn't say that you can't cut it, but I would make sure that it's long enough to pull into a ponytail, because most updos start there. As long as they can get it up, you can always have them add a hairpiece to give you more length, curls, height, etc...
