To DOC or not to DOC...

Original post by Daisy610

thoughts?
I would really like one, just to have some stress taken off of me on the day of.

Some people tell me to go for it, and others think the maitre d will take care of it all....

What say you brides to be??

We are not getting one, now JMO I dont think they are worth it, but Fh and I both used to work in cathering for years (DFdid for almost 12) and know what can go wrong and what does not matter and what not do stress over, honstley as long as we fully trust our vendors I am not going to worry the most important think to me is marrying Fh and even with all this planning as long once we are married on that day I will not worry , Our Bp is great and fun and I am really not worried!

I would love to get one if I could afford it. The problem is that I'm a control freak so I don't mind running the show, even for my own wedding.

Does anyone know of a cheap DOC like under 1K?

I have heard its wonderful to have one, unfortunitly I can't afford it and I have heard that most people who didn't get one, didn't regret it... there was a post about this recently. it definitly made me feel better about now having one

The event coordinator at Engineer's club acts as my DOC. He will do any and everything and has already been a great sounding board for ideas. I asked him when we booked if I should hire a DOC and he said, 'no you have me'. I have heard stories from people I know who have hosted events there and the things they have done to accomodate their clients have blown me away.

Other places might do the same, so maybe call your venue and ask.

but I thought the reception manager takes care of all of that?
am I wrong?

The DOC will handel any issues that come up even before you get to the hall. The manager only deals with you once you get to the hall

thank you for all of your replies. I have a list of possible DOCs now, and now I'll need to start sorting through them!
