OK so FH is dying for me to put this on the registry.
My argument is that it is SO expensive and there are other things we need much more.
I know my luck, Ill get the stupid vacuum and not my plates or something LOL..
What do you think?

Re: To dyson or not to dyson???
It is a nice vacuum, but... I borrowed it from FMIL and at the time I had 2 dogs and a cat and I was convinced that if it did as good of a job as they say on TV then I would p/u a lot into canister. Turns out that hardly anything went into canister and so I guess my Hoover Wind Tunnel (for less $$$$) was obviously doing a good job. Also, I don't know about your preference, but I found it to be very heavy and much harder to maneuver than a canister vacuum.

Re: To dyson or not to dyson???
I didn't put it on my registry. I put the Hoover Wind Tunnel for $169.00. THe Dyson is so much money. It would take at least 4 people to buy it. THere are other things I need more then a $400 and something vacuum cleaner. I saw a post a while back about this topic. Someone posted the top three vacuums and the Dyson was not one of them. THe hoover was, so I put that down. Not to say the Dyson is not a good vacuum, I heard it was great. It is just to much money IMO.

Men want Hummers but they cant afford them. This is the closest they will get. FH insisted on putting it on the registry and we got it. I havent used it and I hope its as good as they say it is but as I have said before, it doesn't make a man's manhood any bigger because he has the best vacuum cleaner. See what I'm sayin?

I have a hand me down from my mom and it really is the best. It is much more powerful then most vacumms. I say go for it. When else are you gonna get a $400 vacuum.

I have the yellow ball one and it is the best thing since sliced bread
my mom bought it for me and FH as a x-mas gift. I think you should register for it. The worst thing that will happen is you won't get it. It is totally worth the $$

Got to say that the electrolux still got the best ratings in Consumer reports.

Re: To dyson or not to dyson???
Lucky - I wish FH was all about the Dyson. I had to whine and beg to get the Dyson on the registry (as well as the mixer!). I definitely think it is worth it - especially if you are like me (hate to vacuum and need a super powered, quick vacuum - and LOVE pets so will have cat/dog hair that needs to be cleaned up)

Call me a sucker for good marketing but I registered for it without asking around. I figure the if I get it -Fine. If I don't - Fine. I registered for it at BB&B because I heard they take anything back as long as it's on your registry.

I know this is an older post, and I didn't get a chance to skim through to see whether or not you decided but I did some research, and the Dyson is great, but there are others out there that are a whole lot better at a better price.
We were going to Dyson and then after the consumer reports rating research, we decided on the Electrolux that came in at half the price and superior quality-wise.

Re: To dyson or not to dyson???
Dh bought me the Animal Ball Dyson last month and I LOVE IT!!!!! It is so flexible and it really does suck up the hair tumble weeds I accumulate every 3 days due to the hairy children we have.
It has great accessories too. Takes that damn hair off the couch well. I went trough 2 vaccuums int helast 2 years becuase of the sucky suction...so i have no complaints aboutthis vaccuum...(yet) only been a month.
Just had to add my 2 cents

That's what I registered for, my mom has had one for as long as I can remember (ok, so now she's had two). They last really long (she replaced the one she had for 30 years this year).

I say YES...you could always return it if you feel that you need other things that are more important...But I'm bias my vaccum (The Miele) is $500
