How many of you are getting an edging done on your veil and how many of you aren't? If you are, what kind of edging are you having done? Just curious.

Re: To edge or not to edge....
Personally i think an edgeless veil looks very unfinished to me - like someone just made it.
Im getting a pencil embroidered edge.

Re: To edge or not to edge....
I think its whatever you like and whatever goes best with your dress. I have seen a penciled edged veil that was fighting with the bride's dress, you have to see it with your dress and then you will be able to make the decision. Whether edged or not, I think veils are just an addition to the whole look. I usually like most veils except for the ones where the edging are too heavy.
My veil has no edge and it is absolutely beautiful. The lady that made it added swarvoski crystals to it, so when I turn it sparkles. I love it

Mine doesn't have an edge... My dress has so much on it already, I think it'll take away from it.

Re: To edge or not to edge....
I definetly want edging, anyone know if you can have it added at a later time and how much that would cost? That way you can try it on a decide later. Where are you buying your veils from?
Mine has edging I just love the way it looks but I defintely agree that is depends on the dress.

Re: To edge or not to edge....
I am getting a pencil edge....my dress is very detailed and I do not think it takes away from my dress. The veil that is made for my dress actually has a very detailed sequin edging. I didn't like thta one and went for a less dramatic edge.
I heard with no edging the veil is more likely to run (like pantyhose) but I am not sure if that is true. Just something some people told me.

Re: To edge or not to edge....
Mine is tiered with a rolled edge. My dress is very detailed as well and I think it complements it nicely. My salon had a headpiece/veil 'show' so I got to choose my headpiece and veil while I had my dress on.
Go with whatever you think is best! Good luck!

Mine doesn't have an edge. My dress is very simple and I think it would go better without one.

Re: To edge or not to edge....
Mine was a 2-tiered veil with a fine embroidered edge. That's similar to a pencil edge. I think it completed the look very well. Here's a picture, but it may be hard to see:
I went with no edge. One of the photographers I met with warned me that the edges can end up looking dark in black and white photos. *shrugs*

Re: To edge or not to edge....
I believe that rumor is that crystals end up looking like black spots in photos - but I don't think that is true either. White or cream thread should never look black in photos, no matter what kind.
Here is a sepia toned photo with a pencil edge cage veil:

Re: To edge or not to edge....
I have never heard of the veils w/o and edge running that is new to me. If crystals turned black in pix then it would not be such a popular faeture on veils, I have seen many pix and I have never seen the crystal look black. I have also never seen the edging look black....do people just make these things up
I guess sometimes its best that we ask the experts some of our questions, then there would be less confusion.
