To feed or not to feed.....

the band, that is....what is everyone doing? Our band is composed of 8 people and they get to eat at 1/2 price...i don't know if we should be paying to feed them or not...my manager told me that they can eat as much as they want for free during cocktail hour and i think vienese too....what does everyone think? for girls who are already married and had a band, what did you do?

I didn't have a band, but we did feed all our vendors (DJ, MC,Photo, Video, assistants). I personally think you should feed them. I know its more people than a DJ, but I would just count that $ as part of the cost of having a band. I think its the right thing to do.

I'm having a DJ, but I think you need to feed them.

They are working hard for you for atleast 4-5 hours (maybe 6 if your VH adds on an hour?)

I think thats a long time for them to just snack on CH food, JMO.

They are going to make or break your wedding, I would try and keep them happy!

This topic always gets crazy! You gotta feed them!! What are they going to do? Stop playing music for 30 min to go to Mcdonalds??

Feed them...it's the right thing to do...and if you dont keep them happy, they can ruin your music

The right thing to do is feed them.

If you think about it, they'll be setting up and getting ready for the reception while everyone is at the CH... so in reality, they're really not going to be in there eating.

You have to feed them. Personally I gave my vendors the option -- cocktail hour or dinner.

I let them make that decision based on what they prefered and what is easier for their schedule -- they haven't responded about that yet.

I agree. In fact my videographer had it in his contract that if dinner wasn't provided they had the right to leave for 30-45 minutes to obtain their own. I obviously didn't want that so feeding them all !!

Ask them! Our band wanted bigger tips instead of food, they didn't come out and say it this way though.

We are having a 9 piece band and we are feeding them... as well as our photog/videographer.

One of my favorite memories is hearing one of my band members on the phone saying how much they liked my food. He said' I had a great night and I got to eat steak!'
That really made me smile.

I think most vendors expect to have dinner offered. If they are expecting it and don't get it....it may show in their performance or service

we did feed our vendors, but our band told us specifically NOT to feed them
they said that the RH feeds them regardless and they were 10 people

i totally agree!!! we have 2 pay them, feed them, and tip them!!! anything with the word 'wedding' attached to it just gets out of hand.
