To invite, or not to invite??

Original post by DKaye09

FSMIL had a question for me...

A friend of hers and FFIL was on our invite list since we started planning. Said friend has been her friend for over 20 years. They went to her daughters wedding, and more recently, her other daughters engagement party. Recently, her friend told her that she will not be coming, so do not even send an invite.

FSMIL wants us to send an invite anyway, but her sister said not to.

What do YOU ladies think??

Who said not to send the invite the friend or FSMIL? If it was the friend maybe they don't have the $$ to come..so it would be a tough call.

I would probably send it anyway..you could always act like you didn't know

Absolutely send the invite. I have folks who I know for sure aren't coming but I'm sending them invites anyways. Besides, like someone else said, that's a gift not to be missed!

Tough call on these.. bc if you knwo someone cant attend and you send an invite anyway its almost like they may interpret it like you are sending it bc you expect a gift.. but if you dont send it then its sort of rude.

then again if someone knows about your wedding, and that you are planning on inviting them but they just cant go, they will know to send a gift one way or the other and they shouldnt feel like by sending an invite you expected a gift.

So I say, send it anyway.

I wouldn't think this at all if I were on the recieving end of it...
