to invite or not to invite... (little long sorry)

to invite or not to invite... (little long sorry)

A long time 'friend' of mine didn't come to my engagement party and pulled a no show at my shower. Well not totally she called a mutual friend my MOH, to say she was sick and couldn't make it. Interestingly enough she was at a Baby shower for another mutual friend the next morning.

This friend and I have an interesting relationship. We can go MONTHS without speaking and pick up where we left off. The last time I saw her (probably last summer) she gave me a little bit of grief for not asking her to be in my wedding. I explained that I have a lot of super close friends and yadda yadda... we hugged it out and things were cool.

Then like I said she missed all the 'pre-wedding' events and what is bothering me the most is she never even called me to say I'm sorry I was sick and couldn't come to your shower. I wouldn't have been mad but the not calling is making me second guess our friendship.

so should I even invite her?

invite her.. but for yoru final count... tell ur rh a few less ppl than u anticipate..

its better to owe them a few hundred the day of, than for you to loose out on $

thats what i did

I'll probably be in the minority but I say no. Why risk her saying yes, pay for her plate and then have her not show.

I have a friend who my mom and sis invited to my shower, she never RSVP'd and she won't even respond to Facebook messages even to say she can't make it. I don't even want to waste the postage on her for my wedding.

Hmm not too sure what the right answer is, Im going through the same exact situation with me and a few people too who never even said a word to me about missing my shower. So disrespectful.

If it helps at all, I am inviting those people (all but one but thats a whole other story). Not sure what my reasoning is but I am.

Good luck - let me know what you decide. You may just change my decision. haha

i would call her and talk about it ... if you feel like things are awkward between you, then don't invite her to the wedding ... if you feel like things are normal, then invite her.

I would just invite her. I had 2 people I went back and forth about inviting and in the end, I invited because I felt like I was doing the right thing regardless of their actions! Besides, she doesn't show, she's the one missing out!

I'd invite her if you were already planning on it. If she doesn't RSVP, put her down as a no.

Thanks... I think I am going to take Barbs advice on this one. I want to do the right thing but I also don't want to get a 'No' from her either that would really upset me (not to sound gay) but it would. I love this girl to pieces she's just let me down on this one. Boy am I glad I didn't ask her to be in the BP though

Invite her and see what happens. I got a last minute cancellation the day before (an old college roommate) and at that point, I couldn't even care less. Sure, I lost out on a couple hundred dollars, but in the long run, you won't even notice it.
